Welcome to InqWork.

These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern your access to and use of the InqWork website, platform, services, and related features. By accessing or using InqWork, you agree to comply with these Terms, our Privacy Policy, and our Content Guidelines.

If you do not agree to these Terms, please do not use the platform.

1. About InqWork

InqWork is a digital home for aspiring and established African writers to showcase their work — novels, short stories, poetry.

2. Eligibility

InqWork is intended for users aged 16 and above.

By using the platform, you confirm that:

-  You are at least 16 years old;

-  You have the legal capacity to agree to these Terms; and

-  Your use of the platform complies with applicable laws.

Users under the age of 18 should use the platform with appropriate parental or guardian guidance where necessary.

3. Your Account and Information

You may interact with InqWork using your real name, pen name, or anonymously where permitted by the platform.

You are responsible for:

  • -  Ensuring information you provide is accurate;

    -  Maintaining the confidentiality of your account information where applicable; and

    -  All activity conducted under your account or identity.

4. Content Ownership

Writers retain full ownership and copyright of their original work shared or submitted through InqWork.

By submitting or sharing content on InqWork, you grant InqWork a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, store, display, feature, distribute, and promote your content solely in connection with operating, improving, and growing the platform.

This license does not transfer ownership of your intellectual property to InqWork.

5. Your Responsibilities

By using InqWork or submitting content, you confirm that:

-  Your work is original or you have the necessary rights to share it;

-  Your content does not infringe the rights of others;

-  Your content complies with applicable laws;

-  Your submissions comply with InqWork’s Content Guidelines; and

-  Any content ratings assigned to your work accurately reflect the nature of the content.

You remain solely responsible for the content you share or submit.

6. Prohibited Content and Conduct

You may not use InqWork to:

-  Share/disseminate illegal content;

-  Harass, threaten, or abuse others;

-  Share/disseminate content that violates intellectual property rights;

-  Impersonate another person or entity;

-  Distribute spam, malicious software, or harmful code;

-  Engage in hate speech or discriminatory conduct;

-  Share/disseminate prohibited material identified in the InqWork Content Guidelines.

InqWork reserves the right to remove content or restrict access where violations occur.

7. Content Moderation

InqWork may review, remove, restrict, reclassify, or refuse content at its discretion where content:

-  Violates these Terms;

-  Violates the Content Guidelines;

-  Creates legal or safety concerns; or

-  May harm the integrity of the platform or its community.

Removal of content does not transfer ownership rights to InqWork.

8. Writer Grants and Opportunities

Participation in writer grants, open calls, contests, or other opportunities offered by InqWork:

-  Does not guarantee selection, publication, funding, or partnership;

-  May be subject to additional terms or eligibility requirements; and

-  May be modified, suspended, or withdrawn at InqWork’s discretion.

Unless expressly stated otherwise in writing, writers retain ownership of submitted work.

9. Platform Availability

We aim to keep InqWork available and functional, but we do not guarantee uninterrupted access.

InqWork may:

-  Update features;

-  Modify services;

-  Suspend parts of the platform; or

-  Discontinue features

at any time without prior notice.

10. Third-Party Links and Services

The platform may contain links to third-party websites or services.

InqWork is not responsible for:

-  Third-party content;

-  External websites;

-  Third-party privacy practices; or

-  Services not operated by InqWork.

Accessing third-party services is at your own risk.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by applicable law, InqWork shall not be liable for:

-  Indirect or consequential damages;

-  Loss of profits, data, reputation, or opportunity;

-  User-generated content;

-  Interruptions or errors on the platform; or

-  Actions taken by third parties.

Use of the platform is at your own risk.

12. Indemnity

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless InqWork, its founders, affiliates, employees, contractors, and representatives from any claims, damages, liabilities, losses, or expenses arising from:

-  Your content;

-  Your use of the platform; or

-  Your breach of these Terms or applicable law.

13. Privacy

Your use of InqWork is also governed by our Privacy Policy.

By using the platform, you consent to the collection and use of information as described in that policy.

14. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time.

Updated versions will be posted on this page with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Continued use of InqWork after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

15. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and interpreted in accordance with the laws of Kenya.

Any disputes arising from these Terms or the use of the platform shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Kenya.
